ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico.  I'm the youngest of 3 siblings, daughter to a Vietnam War Veteran and a nurse anesthesist.  I obtained my medical degree from University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.  After graduating, I moved to Pittsburg to completed an internship in General Surgery.  After this I came to Orlando where I completed my Family Medicine training in Winter Park under the Florida Hospital system, now Advent Health.
After graduating residency I became a Hospitalist Physician in the same hospital system I trained.  My job was extremely fulfilling until the pandemic started, which led me to explore other venues to practice medicine.
I was presented with an opportunity to work as a COVID doctor for a treatment center in Lakeland, Florida. That assignment was a turning point in my career. I learned invaluable lessons on leadership and hard work. I was surrounded by a group of strong women who taught me that perseverance can take you places you wouldn't even imagine. That is when I made the decision to regain control of my career and start my own business. Abreu Medical was born in the summer of 2021.
From the hospital setting I transitioned into clinical research. My 15 years of clinical experience translated well into the clinical research world in the roles of Principal Investigator and now Medical Director for numerous research studies . This field has provided me the flexibility I needed to focus on enjoying my continued medical education. Along subjects in the field of research I also explored trainings in Aesthetic Medicine. I quickly fell in love with the artistic finesse required to deliver such treatments. Over the last 3 years I have completed over 20 courses on Aesthetic and Regenerative Medicine.
Research and Procedural Medicine have been passions of mine since medical school and I knew my career would be modeled around one, or the other. I never dreamed it would be both! Being multi faceted in my career has allowed me to rekindle my passion for learning and practicing medicine. I am now able to help my patients in many different ways. Oddly enough, I couldn’t be more grateful for the struggles the pandemic presented me.
